Custard powder halwa


Ingredients: Custard Powder - 1 cup (unflavoured) Sugar - 3 cups Water - 4 cup Cardamon - 4 Cashewnuts - 15 (Finely chopped) Ghee - 3 tbsp




Method:
  1. Take a heavy bottomed pan: add in custard powder, sugar and water.

  2. Mix well so that no lumps are formed.
  3. Now, put it on high heat and keep whisking till it is thick, glossy and jelly like.
  4. Add one tablesoopn of ghee and keep mixing.
  5. Now, use a spoon to mix and put it on medium heat.
  6. After 3 minutes, add another tablespoon of ghee and mix well.
  7. Now, it will get thick and stop sticking on to the pan. Add another tablespoon of ghee and keep cooking.
  8. At one stage the halwa will move away from the sides of the pan. At that poin,t add cashews, crushed cardamom and mix well.
  9. When the halwa completely stops sticking to the pan, it will come off the surface of the pan; it will be thick and glossy, and ghee will ooze from the sides.
  10. At this point, transfer the contents to a greased pan and set it in fridge for 1 to 2 hours.

  11. Once it is set, invert it on to a cutting board and cut it into slices.


  12. Serve.
